An official said on Thursday morning that the Russian Sukhoi Super Jet 100 airplane that went missing on Wednesday afternoon had been spotted by one of the rescue helicopters.
Atang Sanjaya Airbase spokesman Major Ali Umri Lubis told Metro TV that the airplane was found at 9:15 a.m. by the helicopter on a hill of Mt. Salak in Bogor, West Java, at the height of 5,500 feet above sea level.
“However, I have not received reports on the details of the plane’s condition, “he said.
The ill-fated Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 went missing near Mt. Salak in West Java on Wednesday at around 2:50 p.m. As of midnight, search and rescue missions had not found any clues to the whereabouts of the missing plane, which was carrying 50 people on board.
The airplane was on a “road show” in several Central and Southeast Asian countries to introduce the airplane by conducting demonstration flights.
